"To all of you - I am very proud of your achievements! YOU all know competing and placing are NOT what it's all about... it's about the journey and everything you learn along the way!"

Kristen McAuslan & Siriano

Name: Kristen McAuslan

Working with Kristen as her coach now for over 5 years, we have a good rapport and great respect for each other. Kristen works hard as a fellow trainer and coach, at the family's own equestrian centre in Park Ridge. Kristen trains her own 2 horses: Siriano - a 5 year old, 17.2 hand warmblood gelding by Sir Donnerhall, and BD Belissimo - an 11 year old, 17 hand gelding by Benito. 2011 was a year of ups and downs for Kristen. Her 'down' included a horrible smash where a driver ran into the front of Kristen's float while she was travelling home from the 2010 State Championships in April with her two precious boys on the float. Although traumatised and without horse transportation for many months, thankfully they were all ok. Her 'ups' included achieving her EA NCAS Level 1 Coaching accreditation, moving Siriano up to Elementary level, and her State Squad horse, BD Bellissimo, up to Intermediate 1 level with some excellent results. Being selected on the 2012 QLD Elite Dressage Squad made 2011 a great year!

Fonteyne in Germany
Name: Danielle Dowsett

Switching her degree in Medical Science to Pharmacy in 2011, Danielle managed to balance her study committments with her commitment to her new horse, Waitano, a 10 year old 17 hand Hanoverian gelding by Wolkentanz II. Waitano arrived in March, and we made the decision to campaign him at medium level until Dani could get used to organising a much bigger horse than she had ever ridden. Together they won medium titles at the Sunshine Coast Championships and the QLD State Young Rider Championships, with reserve Medium titles at the Park Ridge ** and Toowoomba Championships. Qualifying for the National Championships, Danielle was thrilled with her win in the 4C where she was drawn to ride first up in the morning! She held the lead all day, taking the first step on the podium with me in 2nd place. A very proud coach I was! Danielle is thrilled with her State Young Rider Squad selection in 2012.

Shannan Puckeridge & Aristede

Name: Shannan Goodwin

Horse: Aristede

A naturally driven person, Shannan is great to coach, literally taking home her 'homework' each week to get the next lot for the next week. Commencing 2011 with our list of goals, Shannan and her lovely 5 year old, 16 hand gelding, Aristede, from the very trainable Aachimedes bloodline, more than achieved them. A reserve State Preliminary Championship in April, had Shannan more than ready to start elementary with the goal of qualifying for the National Championships. Some excellent elementary scores and winning the Reserve State Elementary Championship meant Shannan did qualify for the Nationals, where she rode 2 error free tests for an 8th placing! I very much look forward to working with Shannan and Aristede throughout 2012.

Amy Zeller & Leadburn Rotstein

Name: Amy Zeller

Amy made a big move in 2011, moving from her family home in Toowoomba down to the Gold Coast to concentrate on her developing her riding skills. Amy has 2 lovely horses that she works full time on: Denzel - an 8 year old gelding by Don Fredrico, and Sundance - a lovely 4 year old by Sunny Boy. At her few outings in 2011, Amy won 3 out of the 4 tests she entered on Denzel, and were a part of the "Awesome Foursome" Quadrille to Music at the Dressage QLD Festival of Dressage. Another highlight was Amy and Sundance's  selection to ride in the Hubertus Hufendiek Masterclass at the new State Equestrian Centre at Caboolture. With Amy's dedication, I'm sure we'll more of her in 2012.

Tammy Stephens &
Dicavalli Royal Dancer

Tammy Stephens &
River Range Carolina
Name: Tammy Stephens

A talented photographer and a determined, driven person, Tammy is another student I'm very proud of. Setting up her own Training and Agistment business, with a talented youngster, Dicavalli Royal Dancer, by Royal Hit, to campaign, meant Tammy had very busy start to 2011. Together they won many a preliminary and novice test including the Sunshine Coast Championships Novice Futurity. Then disaster struck... a nasty accident left Tammy's poor mare needing a year off. Now in foal to Bellissimo, Tammy hopes for a future star to be born next year. This leaves Tammy on the lookout for a nice horse to campaign until her mare can come back into work. To her credit, Tammy has continued with her lessons, bringing a horse she has on training as she is always hungry to develop methods and improve her naturally good timing.

Sally Keay & Wilara Woomera
Photos by: Tammy Stephens

Name: Sally Keay

Horse: Wilara Woomera

Working with Sally for the 5th year now, Sally continues to improve her riding skills on her beautiful horse, Willow, a 7 year old 16.3 hand Hanoverian mare by Wolkenstein II.

Training solidly at elementary level, Sally prepared for her first competition this year, before a month of rain cancelled the event. Sally loves the horses and is a joy to train, getting that overwhelming buzz that comes when everything comes together, to make those magic moments that make dressage an addiction!

Katie Lund & Nekarbo Wilbur
Name: Katie Lund

Horse: Nekarbo Wilbur

Year 11 student, Katie, had a very rewarding year on her horse, Nekarbo Wilbur, a 7yo 16.3 hand, Hanoverian gelding. Committed to her practise and 'homework', Katie and Wilbur won the QLD State Young Rider Preliminary Championship and won the 2F at the National Inter High School Dressage Champsionshsips in Werribee. Working towards the collection and movements required for the elementary level, means we can finally aim towards State Young Rider squad selection in 2012.

Natalia Didovich & Rubern Sportivo
Name: Natalia Didovich

Horse: Rubern Sportivo

Natalia started training with me 2 months out from the National Interschool Championships in Werribbee, which Natalia had qualified for on her lovely horse, Rubern Sportivo. This meant a steep learning curve. Luckily, she's not afraid of hard work and is genuinely interested in becoming a better rider - so that learning curve was embarked upon with every ounce in her body. A year 11 student, who agists her horse at Kristen McAuslan's beautiful By Design Equestrian Centre in Park Ridge, Natalia's horse is a lovely big warmblood by Cildara Conquest and is an established schoolmaster. Natalia was the first 'victim' of Boot Camp in the 2011 September school holidays, and she came along in leaps and bounds. A delight to work with, we have big goals for the 2012 season.

Jayden Brown & River Range Colombo
Name: Anna Hudson

Horse: River Range Colombo

2011 saw Anna go full time (and extra hours) with the Department of Environment Agency, as well as starting her Masters degree in Law. Anna stuck to training at home on Waikato Ava, her lovely 16.2 hand mare, by Aachimedes; and gave the ride on her talented big (17.3 hands!) warmblood gelding, River Range Colombo, by Northern Classic, to Jayden Brown. Anna hopes to juggle her work, studeis and riding more in 2012 so she can start competing again.

2010

  • Toowoomba Official Competition - 5th in the 2C with 64.21%
  • Caboolture ** Championships - 4th in the 1C with 63.4%
  • Toowoomba ** Championships - 6th in the 2C with 64.53%

Nicole Brown & WP Irish Grove
Name: Nicole Brown

Horse: WP Irish Grove

A university student of nursing, Nicole finally purchased her new horse, Bosco, after a 6 month search. A 2 star eventing schoolmaster from Adelaide, Bosco is now helping Nicole learn all the elemetary movements. After just 2 months, Nicole's riding has improved out of recognition. Some early competitions have already been a great triumph for Nicole. Not afraid of hard work, and no stranger to discipline, this remarkable young lady manages to organise work, university and riding with full committment. Together, we have some goals for 2012.

2011

  • QLD State Eventing Champs - 66.4% - Kooralbyn - 3rd
  • Maryborough ODE - 67.73% - 3rd
  • Warwick ODE - 67.05% - 6th

Karen Spencer & EBL San Sevita
Name: Karen Spencer

Horse: EBL San Sevita

Karen has been committed during 2011 to giving her young 3 year old mare, Sevita, the best start to the basics. Karen's dedication cannot be questioned with the successful juggling of a full time job at Griffith University and training her youngster. Karen has shown Sevita wich great success and aims to start her official dressage career in 2012.

Samantha Robertson & Princess Moloti
Name: Samantha Robertson

Horse: Princess Moloti

Sam is a breath of fresh air. A dedicated showjumper, Sam came to me for more 'formal' riding skills. A little concerned at first, thinking I was going to have to torture this little girl into a dressage position - Sam proved me wrong by just loving it! She has this huge grin on her face when she has to sit back in the canter and work on having 'no air between her gluteus maximus and the saddle!'. A keen pony clubber, Sam has been to a few dressage competitions now and is really enjoying her dressage. She has a lovely willing pony called Princess Moloti, who seems to be very proud of working 'on the bit!'.

Proving to be a perfect partnership, Gabby and Albie have spent the last 6 months getting to know each other and finally had their debut performance at their local Currumbin Riding Group's associate day. They have made such great strides already, that I have no doubt that 2012 will be a rewarding year for Gabby.

Jemma and 'Drover' started with me in 2010 and Jemma is making excellent progress with her understanding of throughness. Some great competition results show Jemma’s steady improvement, and I know Jemma is aiming towards the QLD State Young Rider Squad in the future. Jemma and Drover were thrilled to be part of the Awesome Foursome Quadrille to Music at the 2010 QLD Festival of Dressage, and I was very proud of her crash course in half-pass, pirouettes and quick introduction to the double bridle! Talk about a steep learning curve!
