Lessons and Clinics

Nicole loves coaching and strives towards helping riders set and achieve their training and competition goals. She is known to be a driven task master and is passionate about correct methodology. Nicole is also passionate about learning and always seeks to expand her knowledge, often travelling interstate and inter-country in an effort to learn more.

Three of her favourite quotes are:
1. There is no elevator to expertise. You have to take the steps.
2. Amateurs practise til they get it right. Professionals pracise til they can't get it wrong.
3. Winners never quit; and quitters never win.

Lessons

Lessons at Nicole's property are usually 45 minutes duration, and cost $110 plus GST.

Currently there are no school horses available, you must have your own horse to bring.

Nicole is located at 1 Mottee Court, Advancetown on the Gold Coast (10 minutes from Nerang).

Students

Nicole is happy to teach students of all ages and backgrounds, as long as they have an interest in learning dressage.

Nicole teaches students who own all different types of horses from German Riding Ponies and Welsh Cobs, to Off-the-track Thoroughbreds and Arabian X, through to dressage-bred Warmbloods.

Nicole is equally happy teaching competition riders as she is those who never intend to compete, but simply wish to improve their dressage skills.

Clinics

Nicole does travel to select destinations for clinics.  Contact Nicole for information on whether she can travel to your area (minimum numbers and travel restrictions apply).

Facilities

Lessons at Nicole's property are provided in a fully-fenced Olympic sized indoor arena (60m x 20m).  Safe yards with shelters are available for tacking up or holding horses.

There is also plenty of parking available on the property for trucks or floats, and a wash bay available for use after your lesson.

Boot Camps

A lot of Nicole's students find they benefit from a "Boot Camp" every so often - an intensive block of daily lessons over a period.  Horse accomodation in the way of yard with shelter is often a great idea (subject to availability), and our grooms can feed and rug your horse as required during their stay.  Rider accomodation is also sometimes available.

Group Rides

From time to time, Nicole organises themed ride days for her students which are an open invitation for all riders to come and watch one anothers' lessons on the day.  These days are a great way to get to know fellow students, learn from one another, and have fun with lunch, photos and often a group drill ride towards the end.

There is always lots of great feedback from these days which have led them to become very well-attended!

Safety

Safe riding practices are of the utmost importance to Nicole, being a fully insured instructor through Equestrian Australia and holding a current first aid qualification.

Nicole requires all students to wear a current EA approved helmet, riding boots and appropriate attire whilst being involved in lessons and to adhere to safe horse handling practices.

Within the property, the horse area is fully fenced and she encourages students to make use of the yards or cross ties after arriving to prepare their horse.

Community

Nicole promotes a positive community environment within her property, employees and students.  She regularly receives feedback that the atmosphere is very welcoming, and she encourages family of students to come and watch lessons as often as they like.  Read some testimonials from students below to find out more about the NTD experience.

"Something I find very helpful with Nicole's lessons is her explanations of things - the why, how, when, etc.  She shares a lot of information.  I have learned a great deal.  There is a lovely encouraging environment at Nic's and her stable staff are wonderful."

"I love my lessons, every minute, whether it goes according to plan or not.  Nicole has an incredible gift of horse and rider sight; her sense and ability to see how you are as a person and rider - you and your horse's quirks and strengths, is absolutely amazing.  Nicole will always praise your ability to try and really praise when you nail a move.  It is uplifting.  Nicole is knowledgable and beyond experienced."

"I've been training with Nicole for over 12 months now and she has really helped me to devleop my horse's way of going and my feel.  She successfully got me through the tricky period of teaching my horse flying changes and we have really improved our scores in competition.  The best part is she makes learning fun every session and will always strive to explain things in new ways to help you understand the concepts.  It is priceless to find a coach you really gel with and look forward to every lesson."

"Nicole is an amazing rider & I feel so grateful to be coached by her. She has supported me through it all especially the transition of buying my first warmblood mare. She has taught me all about the importance of the rein, seat and leg aid and how they all work together. "
