Upgrading to Level 3 High Performance in Dressage Specialisation.

After 2 years of study including going back to university to study Sports Psychology and High Performance Coaching, Nicole achieved Australia’s highest level of coaching qualification, EA’s Level 3 High Performance in Dressage Specialisation.

Nicole is a big believer in the EA coaching system. She says - It is hard, but so is earning qualifications in any career. It takes 3-4 years at University to earn most Bachelor Degrees and 3 years at trade school to earn a trade certificate, and I know I wouldn’t want an unqualified dentist in my mouth. Add to this, the high risk that comes with riding and training horses, it is imperative our coaches are qualified and insured. I earned my ‘bachelor degree’ ie: Level 1 General Coaching accreditation in 1992, and went on to study for my ‘masters’ ie: Level 2 Dressage Specialist accreditation in 2015, meeting life long friends and learning so much on that pathway.

I urge all coaches to enter the system because it provides a structured, internationally recognised pathway for a fulfilling career helping others, with benefits like insurance and ongoing professional development. It allows us to guide riders from beginner to elite levels while adhering to standards of safety, welfare, and horsemanship. The accreditation offers clients peace of mind, and the community provides support, networking, and opportunities to advance your career.

It is a hard slog, which only adds to the importance of our careers and acknowledging the risk involved in equestrian sport.

I thank Michelle Clough in the EA office and all the people that helped on this pathway to my Level 3🙏🏻🫡.

I look forward to giving back to trainee coaches in the coming years.
